We are hosting a Diaper Drive the entire month of April to support the Pregnancy Care Center in Old Hickory. The Pregnancy Care Center supports women experiencing pregnancy and men whose partners are pregnant. They provide prenatal, postnatal and parenting education and counseling. They also connect parents and parents-to-be with resources in the community.
We toured the Pregnancy Care Center this week and it was a powerful experience. As any parent knows, pregnancy is an all-consuming event. The Pregnancy Care Center is here for every single man and woman that walks in the door. A significant percentage of the women who come to the Care Center, we learned, are women in their early twenties. They are fresh out of high school and need the support that the Care Center works to build. The Care Center has helped women from 29 different countries of origin, too! Because of this, they offer services in English, Spanish and Arabic!
Here is where the Diaper Drive comes in: When parents attend classes, they earn points that they can then use to shop in the Pregnancy Care Center’s store. The store is stocked with clothing and supplies for children sizes newborn-2T. And you guessed it, this includes diapers! We want to help keep their store stocked.
We are collecting:
*Diapers size 2 through 6 (new & unopened)
*Pull-Ups
*Wipes
*Diaper Bags
*If you have other baby supplies that are very gently used, we will gladly accept those, too.
